There are a lot of precious new identities the believer receives in Christ Jesus, but my personal favorite, is probably that of his bride. I am just waking up and I can do no justice to the beauty and purity of our bridal identity in him probably, that I don’t think I am even going to try. But why am I here and what am I wanting to say?
Honestly, I don’t know! Lol. But I want to write and share because life is short and precious.
I just want to share with you, or remind you, dear reader that your identity is the pure and spotless bride to Jesus. You are made for him. You are made to devote your life to him, to serve him, to delight in him. Everything you think of as beautiful or good or worthwhile in a marriage, can be found in him. This is your first love, his unending mercy, his pursuit of you, his kindness, and you melting and becoming love mud in his hands. A willing, moldable, flexible; not stubborn but trusting, helpful, surrendered mate for Jesus.
You are created for union with him. As the man leaves his home, and cleaves to a wife and becomes one, what a mystery, but even more mysterious is the Lord and His love for us. That we become one with the unseen one. This revelation of God to me summarizes everything, and the book of Hosea very poetically illustrates the Lord’s love and pursuit of our wayward hearts, as we learn his righteous ways and surrender to him.
So, be dazzled in love today. You are the bride of holiest and most loving and caring and pure man. He sees you and his heart swells, he loves you with an everlasting love, his eyes burn with holy passion for you. Believe and know in your heart that his eyes are on you. That in his love, you have everything you need. And then spread this revelation of divine love with you everywhere you go, reminding and revealing to the people around you of their identity as: precious, loved, chosen, delighted in, married.
In you my soul has a partner, my heart found a friend, I have a love so pure and deep, so wildly clean, that it always produces holy and righteous fruit, and never brings or lets me down.
You are the bride of Christ, but apart of the greater bride of Christ which is his church and his body. When you are interacting with people today, remember how precious they are to Jesus as his bride.
Some verses about being the bride of Christ:
When that day comes,” says the LORD, “you will call me ‘my husband’ instead of ‘my master.’ Hosea 2:16
For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth. Isaiah 54:5
Revelation 19:7-9
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”
Isaiah 62:4-5
You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,
Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;
But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;
For the LORD delights in you,
And your land shall be married.
For as a young man marries a virgin,
So shall your sons marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
Soshall your God rejoice over you.
My engagement to a godly man ended in August. This is brand new and I'm still learning how to ignore the lie that I am used goods, that I belong to no one. And run full into the arms of the truth: I am my Beloved's, and my Beloved's mine. God bless you for this wonderfully written post, dear Leah.
